Jeremy Duckham was born in Bradford in 1959. He moved to the Midlands in the early 80’s after graduating from Kingston Polytechnic. His professional career as a Scenic Artist began in 1984, when he joined the BBC Design Department at Pebble Mill in Birmingham, working on a wide variety of TV dramas such as Howards Way, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Sophia & Constance, Dalziel & Pascoe and many more.
In 2001 he left Pebble Mill and is now freelance. Since leaving the BBC he has produced work for TV, Film, Exhibitions and Concerts, and has worked on two large projects for South Yorkshire Police, The Lifewise Centre at Magna Park in Rotherham and The Public Order Training Centre in Wath upon Dearne.
The two projects for South Yorkshire Police are featured in detail on this site.
The Public Order Training Centre arena in Wath upon Dearne has been transformed from bare boards and breeze blocks into realistic street scenes complete with shops, pub, hotel and Bramall Lane turnstiles. The design being a collaboration between Jeremy and the Inspector in charge of training, Graham Wright. The artwork has created a much more lifelike training environment.
The Lifewise Centre, a South Yorkshire Police led partnership with the Fire Service, Health Service and local Authority provides a purpose built training arena to promote crime prevention, accident safety and positive citizenship using realistic scenarios, for up to 15,000 Year 6 pupils each academic year. Jeremy worked with TV Set Designer Ian Fisher and Bi-Lines Scenery Ltd to produce the life-size three-dimensional set, creating a unique educational training facility for the young people of South Yorkshire.
